Its clientele includes prestigious names such as Nike and the New York Times, as well as smaller businesses and individual creators. CEO and co-founder Mike Yan reports that Manychat facilitates “billions” of messages annually for users across platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

The recent funding will be primarily allocated towards research and development, particularly enhancing AI capabilities within the platform. Additionally, Manychat plans to expand its global sales, marketing, and support services. Notably, the company has maintained a mostly profitable status since its founding, operating at a break-even point.

With traditional communication methods like email becoming inundated with spam, the potential for messaging apps to grow as a business communication tool became clear to Yan and co-founder Anton Morin after they recognized the utility of Telegram’s open API.
Initially, Yan’s vision materialized with the creation of Manychat tailored for Telegram, leading the startup to participate in the 500 Startups accelerator, boosting its visibility and growth.

The opening up of APIs from major platforms like Facebook Messenger propelled Manychat’s expansion. By the time of its Series A funding in 2019, Manychat had reached a monthly active user base of 350 million on Messenger, achieving a remarkable open rate of 80%. The company currently reports that Instagram is now its most active platform.
